Help us conserve our little bit of "HOLLYWOOD" here in Big "D"
by becoming a member of the Hollywood/Santa Monica Neighborhood Association!! We
are a community that cares about our homes and wants to preserve the character of
this unique neighborhood's architectural styles!
Memberships Make Our Neighborhood Strong
Here are some reasons to become a member of your neighborhood association:
-
Lakewood Elementary now serves the children of our neighborhood because your
neighborhood association worked with the Dallas School Board to change it from
Mt. Auburn Elementary School.
-
A four-lane thoroughfare was proposed to run through the middle of Hollywood/Santa
Monica but because of your neighborhood association, the plan has long been scrapped.
-
The County was planning an elevated toll road through the
neighborhood, but the actions of your neighbors successfully
defeated that proposal.
-
Lindsley Park is now one of the most beautiful and useful
neighborhood parks in the city of Dallas, thanks to the hard
work and funding of your neighbors and the neighborhood association,
which also transformed patches of weeds and "no dumping"
signs into our triangle pocket parks.
-
In addition to the City of Dallas Parks & Recreation maintenance
of Lindsley Park, your neighborhood association provides park clean-up
each month, purchased additional trash cans for the park, and funds
mowing on the Brookside-Monte Vista bridge.
-
Hollywood/Santa Monica was one of the first conservation district in the City of
Dallas created after a mammoth two year effort to preserve the architectural
integrity, and thus the value of our homes.
-
Your neighborhood association required the Dallas Housing Authority to provide
neighborhood-friendly actions when taking over Town Park Apartments, including
scheduled inspections of the property to insure a high level of maintenance,
neighborhood input and on-site security.
As you can see from this partial list of accomplishments, neighborhood association
members maintain strong relationships with school boards, as well as city, county,
and police authorities to protect the integrity of our neighborhood. Members monitor
city council meetings, attend relevant board and commission meetings, constantly
communicate with the Dallas Police Department through Crime Watch, and document and
report code violations, all to ensure that your Hollywood/Santa Monica Neighborhood
is the healthiest and most beautiful place to live in the city of Dallas. Your
membership helps protect this precious piece of Dallas.
